Physical Wellbeing for Obesity

Obesity is defined by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) as "weight higher than what is considered healthy for a given height." Oxford Languages defines obese as "very fat or overweight." Cambridge Dictionary defines obese as "extremely fat; extremely fat in a way that is dangerous for health." For members of this community, these terms can be hurtful.

In addition to food choice and lack of physical activity, the research also indicates that a person may have excess pounds for a wide variety of other reasons including an not limited to: sleep patterns, medications, eating disorders, drug induced, endocrine malfunctions, genetics, depression, certain illnesses, culture, and social determinants of health (SDOH).

This course is more than just exercising and diet and is primarily concerned with preserving a state of wholeness for this population. Research indicates that the world at large associates obesity with a person's inability to control caloric intake, and that a person has sole control over their weight. For this reason, people whom are considered obese may be at greater risk for negative quality of life outcomes due to poor self image.

Our programming offers wholistic health education, coaching, and opportunities to practice self-love and acceptance regardless of weight. This program is perfect for the individual whom is at least 25+ pounds overweight, and is having difficulty operating positively in everyday life as a result.
